Midland Youth Hub

While working at an Australian based practice Gresley Abas, Studio Sentire founder Laura Gazey led the design and delivery of the Midland Youth Hub from initial briefing through to completion, including administering the building contract on site.

Commissioned by the local authority, the project provides a new home for a youth-focused support facility in the suburbs of Perth. The design was driven by a desire to create a welcoming, characterful environment with a strong sense of identity and connection to place.

A series of carefully considered architectural gestures bring this building to life, most notably the projecting brickwork façade. This feature celebrates the craft of brickmaking which is an important part of the area’s heritage, while giving the building a distinctive and expressive presence on the street.
